The battle for second place — and a first-round playoff bye — has been ongoing for months.
The Cubs are in the hunt.
And Saturday night's comeback certainly helped.
Trailing 3-1 early in the third period, the Cubs ripped off four unanswered goals
Mason Fischer scored the equalizer and then potted the winner with 3:34 to play.
Spencer Chapman scored a pair and also had two helpers.
Chandler Aleman also scored as Medicine Hat improved to 22-9-2, four points back of the Cochrane Generals, and with a game in hand.
Garret Vander Ploeg scored and added a helper while Will Kathol and Jaycob Masciangelo also scored for Strathmore (11-22-0).

Riker Franczak extended his streak in style.
The Calgary product, who celebrated his 20th birthday on Wednesday, scored a hat trick and added an assist to run his points streak to 13 games.
Tyler Witzke potted a pair and set up another while Tyson Scott rounded out the scoring.
The Copperheads (22-12-1) spread the offence around with five different players — Thomas Johnson, Tyler Anderson, James Halverson, Mason Sande and Ty Abbott — finding the scoresheet.

Rylan Burns scored twice and set up two others as Red Deer rolled to victory.
Elijah Johanson, Austin Gallant, Jace Paarup, Jacksyn Goodall, Jarvis Gaume and Matias Letwin also found the back of the net in Red Deer's best offensive production in the past 17 games.
