The New Year hasn't been kind to the Airdrie Techmation Thunder.

The Thunder dropped their second game in as many nights on Saturday in Stettler.

Brendan Bardwell, Rylee Jacobson, Matt Sylvester and The Mulgrove scored as the Lightning beat the Thunder.

Lightning general manager Trevor Wagner said his club looked completely different than the previous night when Stettler lost to the Rocky Rams.

"We put together a full 60 minutes of hockey and we were rewarded for it," Wagner said. "It was a strong game by everyone and our goaltending was strong.

"It was a good push back after (Friday) night's game."

Jordan McConnell and Tyler Petrie scored for the Thunder.

"It was a tough way to come out of the break," Thunder head coach Derek Stamp said. "But we will deal with this adversity and be better for it going forward."

The Lightning (10-18-2) visit the Mountainview Colts on Friday.

The Thunder (21-6-1) host the Ponoka Stampeders on Friday.

The HJHL Top Prospects (1 p.m.) and All-Star Game (4 p.m.) go Sunday afternoon in Medicine Hat.
