Thunder rebound to beat Flyers

Thunder rebound to beat Flyers

Scott Fisher

Back-to-back losses.

The Airdrie Thunder went through the entire 2018-19 season without suffering two straight setbacks.

A third straight loss wasn't an option.

Tristan Paquette had two goals and two assists as the Thunder shook off a pair of early-season defeats to beat the High River Flyers 7-4.

Jakob Jeffries had a goal and two assists for High River (0-4-1).

Sean Burns, Joshua Fleck and Joshua Bantugan also scored for High River, which trailed 3-2 after 20 minutes.

Kyle Bracko and Zachary Dubois also potted a pair apiece and Luke Jensen added a single as the Thunder righted the ship on home ice.

Bracko said getting to know his linemates paid off.

"I don't think much is different, we're just starting to click with each other," Bracko said.

"We've had four games and our line is starting to work real good together."

Bisons 8, Wranglers 4

The Bisons are for real.

And still undefeated.

Tyler Witkze scored twice and added a pair of apples and Devyn Stewart also pounded in a pair as the Bisons improved to 4-0-0.

Michael Bentz, Tyson Scott, Ryan Bedard and Brennan Schwark also found the net for Okotoks.

Taite Opdendries had a goal and an assist while Jackson Rider, Zane Bennett and Justin Lawson also lit the lamp for the Wranglers (1-3-0).

Lakers at Cubs

This game was cancelled because of weather — in September!

Welcome to Alberta fall … winter?

The Cubs much-awaited home-opener will now be next Sunday against the Coaldale Copperheads (2:15 p.m.).
