COCHRANE – A three-goal first period paced the Coaldale Copperheads to a 3-1 win over the Cochrane Generals, giving them a 2-0 lead in their best-of-seven South Division Final series.
Ty Abbott opened the scoring 4:47 into the game, while Chase Williamson made it a 2-0 lead just 1:20 later.
Jayden Bexte rounded out the scoring for Coaldale in the final minute of the first period.
Nolan Berner stopped 35-of-36 shots in the Coaldale crease, with the only shot beating him coming off the stick of Harry Osler with 40 seconds remaining in the game.
Knute Loe finished with 16 saves for Cochrane.
Coaldale can take a commanding 3-0 series lead with a win on home ice Saturday. Game 3 is slated for an 8:30pm puck drop.
