Visser, Colts complete comeback with Game 7 OT victory over Vipers

RED DEER – Mitchell Visser scored his second overtime goal of the series as the Mountainview Colts completed the comeback with a thrilling 5-4 win in Game 7 on Saturday night, taking the best-of-seven North Division semifinal series over the Red Deer Vipers.

The Colts trailed 3-0 in the later stages of the second period before their offence came alive, scoring five of the final six goals of the game.

Laine Rothenbusch found the back of the net twice for the Colts, while Alan Klinck and Kale Wright added singles, the later of which knotting the score up at 4-4 with 5:03 left in regulation.

Ethan Woodward recorded the win between the pipes, stopping 29-of-33 on the night.

Keenan Smith opened the scoring for Red Deer just 55 seconds into the game, while Connor Sullivan, Brody Kalinowski and Ryan Vandervlis rounded out the scoring.

Justin Anderson turned aside 24 shots in the loss.

The Colts now advance to the North Division Final where they will face the Airdrie Thunder.

Mountainview trailed 3-0 in the series before rattling off four straight wins, including overtime victories in Game 5, Game 6 and Game 7.
