Vipers special teams too much for Colts in Game 2

DIDSBURY – Five unanswered power-play goals paced the Red Deer Vipers to a 6-2 win over the Mountainview Colts on Friday evening, giving them a 2-0 lead in their best-of-seven North Division semifinal series.

Trailing 1-0 late in the first period, Aidan Wilson and Keaton Sawicki scored power-play markers less than two minutes apart to give the Vipers the lead going into the second period, where Sawicki would add his second of the game on the man-advantage, along with tallies from Mack Differenz and Elijah Johnson.

Wilson would net his second of the night before the period was out, giving the Vipers a 6-1 lead after 40 minutes.

Bryce Gray and Josh Gette responsed for the Colts.

Justin Anderson stopped 35 shots in the Red Deer crease.

The Vipers can take a commanding 3-0 series lead with a win on home ice Saturday night. Puck drop goes at 8:00pm.
