MEDICINE HAT – Nolan Berner made 38 saves as the Coaldale Copperheads pulled even with the Medicine Hat Cubs, taking Game 2 by a 3-1 score to knot the best-of-seven South Division semifinal series at one game apiece.
After nearly two and a half periods of scoreless hockey, Jayden Bexte got the Copperheads on the board 9:15 into the final frame, while Linden Gouw and Jared Bainbridge would extend the lead a few minutes later, each finding the back of the net 2:03 apart.
Fletcher Aleman scored the lone goal for the Cubs, breaking Berner’s shutout bid with 1:51 remaining.
Brett Vanderveer made 38 saves in the loss for Medicine Hat.
Game 3 of the series shifts back to Coaldale on Saturday night at 8:00pm.
