Thunder take commanding series lead over Wranglers

AIRDRIE – The offence continues to roll for the Airdrie Thunder as they took a commanding 3-0 series lead over the Blackfalds Wranglers with a convincing 13-1 victory on Friday evening.

Jordan McConnell led the way with three goals and one assist as the Thunder’s offence hit double digits for the second straight game. Cooper Page, Brett LeGrandeur and Tyler Petrie each finished the night with two goals apiece.

Jason Wenzel, Jackson Gibson, Zacary Dubois and Zachary Giroux rounded out the scoring for Airdrie, while Jackson Little picked up the win between the pipes, making 15 saves on the night.

Tyler Bell was the lone Blackfalds skater to get the puck past Little.

Airdrie can close out the best-of-seven North Division semifinal series on Sunday in Blackfalds. Puck drop for Game 4 goes at 3:30pm.
