HJHL Roundup: January 13

Airdrie and Cochrane both extended their winning streaks on a quiet, two-game Sunday in the HJHL.

Cochrane Generals (6) – Blackfalds Wranglers (2)

BLACKFALDS – Brandon Aab and Scott Shugg each scored twice as the Cochrane Generals skated to a 6-2 victory over the Blackfalds Wranglers.

Braden Bain finished with a goal and two assists, while Takuro Okada added a goal and assist for the Generals (21-7-2), which held leads of 1-0 after 20 minutes and 3-0 going into the final frame.

Robert Michetti turned aside 31 shots between the pipes for Cochrane.

Jared Elliot made 28 saves in the loss for Blackfalds (8-16-5), while Curtis Rangen and Austin Lawson provided the offence.

Airdrie Thunder (10) – Ponoka Stampeders (0)

PONOKA – Three different players had five-point nights as the Airdrie Thunder to a 10-0 win over the Ponoka Stampeders.

Jeff Petrie scored three times and setup two others, Rylan Plante-Crough had a goal and four assists, while Cooper Page finished the night with five helpers.

Jordan McConnell added two goals and two assists to the Airdrie (30-2-0), while Tristan Paquette scored once and had two assists.

Ryan Simpson stopped all 19 shots he faced to record his first shutout of the season.

Luke Jensen, Zachary Giroux and Barrett Sheen rounded out the scoring,
