The Bisons and Colts went toe-to-toe in an overtime thriller, highlighting an exciting Friday across the HJHL.
Okotoks Bisons (5) – Mountainview Colts (4)
OKOTOKS – Devon Barlow played the role of the hero on Friday night, scoring the winning goal, on a power play, with 2:06 remaining in overtime, giving the Okotoks Bisons a thrilling 5-4 win over the Mountainview Colts.
Kody Briggs finished with three goals in regulation for the Bisons, while Connor Taylor rounded out the scoring with a single.
Quintin Thorburn scored twice for the Colts, which got a one-goal, two-assist performance from Wyatt Gelinas and a goal and assist from Mitchell Visser.
Devin Reagan recorded the win between the pipes, stopping 50-of-54 shots, while Ethan Woodward made 49 saves in the Mountainview crease.
Cochrane Generals (6) – Strathmore Wheatland Kings (4)
COCHRANE – Harry Osler and Scott Shugg each found the back of the net twice as the Cochrane Generals skated to a 6-4 victory over the Strathmore Wheatland Kings.
Ben Davison and Brandon Aab rounded out the scoring for Cochrane, which held a 6-1 lead midway through the second period before the Wheatland Kings would start to climb back.
Garret Vander Ploeg, Lucas Muenchrath, Isaac Benoit and Tyler Skehar provided the offence for Strathmore.
Kute Loe made 26 saves in net for the Generals.
Ponoka Stampeders (8) – High River Flyers (2)
HIGH RIVER – A four-goal first period paved the way for the Ponoka Stampeders to take an 8-2 road win over the High River Flyers.
Ryan Harder scored twice and setup two more, while Braden Klessens added a goal and two helpers.
Jordan Jacobi, Kacey Straub, Andrew Church, Kieran Bulloch and Odin Obray rounded out the offensive attack for Ponoka, while Keenan Starkell registered the victory in net, stopping 20-of-22 shots fired his way.
Joshua Fleck and Brennan McPherson had the goals for High River, both coming in the second period.
Airdrie Thunder (10) – Blackfalds Wranglers (2)
AIRDRIE – Jordan McConnell led the way with four points, scoring twice and adding two assists, as the Airdrie Thunder rolled to a 10-2 victory over the Blackfalds Wranglers.
Barrett Sheen also had a multi-goal game, scoring twice and adding one assist, while Rylan Plante-Crough and Tristan Paquette each finished with a goal and two helpers.
Brett Campbell, Brayden Dunn, Tyler Petrie and Cooper Page rounded out the scoring for Airdrie, which got 17 saves from netminder Ryan Simpson.
Taite Opendries and Kyle Imesch scored the goals for the Wranglers.
