Coaldale and Red Deer each extended their double-digit winning streaks, while Medicine Hat and Strathmore won big.
Red Deer Vipers (4) – Mountainview Colts (2)
RED DEER – Mack Cormack’s shorthanded marker in the final minute of the second period was the difference maker as the Red Deer Vipers (18-5-1) skated to their 13th straight victory with a 4-2 win over the Mountainview Colts (14-9-10 on Saturday.
Justin Anderson stopped 32-of-34 shots between the pipes for Red Deer, while Connor Sullivan, Keagan Kingwell and Keenan Smith rounded out the scoring.
Mitchell Visser and Zane Leatherdale replied for the Colts, which held a 2-1 lead after 20 minutes, before the Vipers would score twice in the middle frame.
Ethan Woodward made 33 saves in the loss.
Coaldale Copperheads (4) – Stettler Lightning (1)
COALDALE – Four different skaters found the back of the net as the Coaldale Copperheads (22-3-2) were 4-1 winners over the Stettler Lightning (11-10-3) on Saturday evening, extending their winning stream to 10 games in the process.
Tye Mulgrove put Stettler on the board just 39 seconds into the game, however the Copperheads would take over from there as Brandyn Howg scored midway through the period to make it a 1-1 game after 20 minutes.
After a scoreless middle stanza, Mitchell Konschuk, Tyler Anderson and Kole Fujita each found the back of the net in the third period for Coaldale, which got 21 saves from netminder Broc Merkl.
Indiana Kelly turned aside 30 shots in the Stettler crease.
Strathmore Wheatland Kings (9) – Lomond Lakers (1)
STRATHMORE – Isaac Benoit scored three times to propel the Strathmore Wheatland Kings (13-12-2) to a 9-1 win over the Lomond Lakers (5-21-0).
Kody Hammond added a pair of goals for the Wheatland Kings, while Lucas Muenchrath chipped in with a goal and assist.
Parker Keer, Rylee Hebert and Kyle Bracko each added a single to round out the goal scoring, while Kaleb Rowe, Robert Butterwick, Cole Busslinger and Zachary Suntjens each finished with two assists apiece.
Ethan Rycroft made 16 saves to register the win between the pipes.
Medicine Hat Cubs (15) – Three Hills Thrashers (1)
MEDICINE HAT – Fletcher Aleman found the back of the net four times as the Medicine Hat Cubs (11-11-3) cruised to a 15-1 victory over the Three Hills Thrashers (1-24-1).
Cooper Hilworth, Jareh Gray, Mason Fischer and Chandler Aleman each finished with two goals apiece, while Joshua Schafer had four assists.
Martyn Clift made 25 saves in net, while the Medicine Hat power-play finished with seven goals on the man-advantage.
