HJHL Roundup: December 14

Airdrie and Coaldale added some more separation to their division leads on a five-game Friday in the HJHL.

Coaldale Copperheads (5) – Okotoks Bisons (2)

OKOTOKS – Jayden Bexte scored twice as the Coaldale Copperheads (21-3-2) extended their winning streak to nine games with a 5-2 victory over the Okotoks Bisons (17-5-2).

Brant Mack, Levi Anderson and Jayden Smith rounded out the scoring for Coaldale, while Nolan Berner made 27 saves between the pipes.

Devin Reagan made 41 saves in the loss for the Bisons, which got goals off the sticks of Nic Jordan and Devon Barlow.

Medicine Hat Cubs (7) – High River Flyers (5)

HIGH RIVER – Mackenzie Fritzler scored twice and setup two more goals as the Medicine Hat Cubs (10-11-3) skated to an exciting 7-5 win over the High River Flyers (10-15-3).

Chandler Aleman also found the back of the net twice for the Cubs, while Mason Fischer and Cooper Hilworth each added a goal and two assists.

Brett Vanderveer turned aside 18 shots in net to record the victory.

Michael McTighe and Brennan McPherson each scored twice for the Flyers.

Mountainview Colts (6) – Blackfalds Wranglers (1)

DIDSBURY – Six different skaters found the back of the net as the Mountainview Colts (14-8-1) were 6-1 winners over the Blackfalds Wranglers (7-11-5).

Ethan Woodward stood on his head between the pipes, stopping 33-of-34 shots that were fired his way, while Sam Kolke and Travis Gerrard each finished with a goal and assist.

Bryce Gray, Josh Gette, Alan Klinck and Reed Engman rounded out the scoring for the Colts.

Tyler Bell had the lone goal of the game for the Wranglers, which got 43 saves from netminder Danyon Lorencz.

Cochrane Generals (10) – Three Hills Thrashers (1)

THREE HILLS – Harry Osler and Scott Shugg each scored twice as the Cochrane Generals (15-7-2) rolled to a 10-1 win over the Three Hills Thrashers (1-23-1).

Takuro Okada chipped in with a goal and two helpers, while netminder Robert Michetti turned aside 28-of-29 shots fired his way.

Chris Sambrook and Jaeden Dowling each finished with a goal and assist apiece.

Airdrie Thunder (11) – Ponoka Stampeders (1)

AIRDRIE – Brayden Dunn had a monster night, scoring four times and adding three assists, as the Airdrie Thunder (26-2-0) cruised to an 11-1 win over the Ponoka Stampeders (6-14-2).

Cooper Page and Rylan Plante-Crough each found the back of the net twice for the Thunder, while Barrett Sheen added a goal and two assists.

Ryan Simpson turned aside 18 shots between the pipes to record his 13th win of the season.

Steven Strizich scored the lone goal for the Stampeders.
