Four games were decided by two-goal or less on a wild six-game Saturday night across the HJHL.

High River Flyers (6) – Medicine Hat Cubs (5)

MEDICINE HAT – Michael McTighe scored twice, including the game winner 24 seconds into overtime, as the High River Flyers (10-14-3) skated to a thrilling 6-5 win over the Medicine Hat Cubs (8-11-3).

Josh Russo led all skaters with four points, as he netted a goal and three assists for the Flyers, while Max Johnston turned aside 50 shots to record the win between the pipes, his second of the season.

Noah Irvine and Cooper Hilworth each scored twice for the Cubs.

Airdrie Thunder (4) – Strathmore Wheatland Kings (2)

STRATHMORE – Jackson Little kicked-aside 33 shots as the Airdrie Thunder (24-2-0) took a 4-2 win over the Strathmore Wheatland Kings (12-11-2).

Jason Wenzel led the way for the Thunder with a goal and assist, the lone Airdrie player to record a multi-point game.

Brett Willan made 30 saves in the loss for the Wheatland Kings, which cut the deficit down to 3-2 with 55-seconds remaining in the third period, before Luke Jensen sealed the deal with an empty-netter.

Mountainview Colts (5) – Ponoka Stampeders (3)

PONOKA – Five different players found the back of the net for the Mountainview Colts (13-8-1) as they were 5-3 winners over the Ponoka Stampeders (6-13-2).

Reed Engman and Josh Gette each finished with a goal and assist for the Colts, while Trevor Simpson, Zane Leatherdale and Mitchell Visser each added a single.

Griffin Andrews made 22 saves between the pipes, recording his third victory of the season in the process.

Brandon Clark kicked aside 35 shots in the losing effort for Ponoka.

Red Deer Vipers (3) – Lomond Lakers (1)

RED DEER – Justin Travis stopped 27-of-28 shots faced as the Red Deer Vipers (17-5-1) held on for a 3-1 victory over the Lomond Lakers (5-20-0).

Mack DIfferenz and Keaton Sawicki each found the back of the net in the middle stanza for the Vipers, which have now won 12 consecutive games.

Tristyn Zarubiak iced the game with an empty-netter in the final minute.

Theo Paskuski made 30 saves in the loss for Lomond.

Coaldale Copperheads (6) – Blackfalds Wranglers (3)

COALDALE – A three-goal third period rallied the Coaldale Copperheads (20-3-2) to a 6-3 win over the Blackfalds Wranglers (7-9-5).

Tied 3-3 entering the final frame, Jayden Smith scored twice, and Tyler Anderson added a single to break the deadlock.

Nolan Berner shut the door in the third period, making 10 saves, while finishing the night with 28 saves in total.

Stettler Lightning (9) – Three Hills Thrashers (2)

STETTLER – Three different players had multi-goal games as the Stettler Lightning (11-9-3) were 9-2 winners over the Three Hills Thrashers (1-21-1).

Rylee Jacobson and Kieran Rost each led the way with four-point games as Jacobson scored twice and setup two more, while Rost had a goal and three assists.

Jonathan Fournier and Quade Cassidy each found the back of the net twice, while Ethan Rost added a goal and two helpers.

Indiana Kelley made 46 saves in the victory.
