The Copperheads did something no other team has been able to do as an exciting four-game Friday in the HJHL came and went.
Coaldale Copperheads (4) – Airdrie Thunder (2)
AIRDRIE – Nolan Berner made 32 saves as the Coaldale Copperheads handed the Airdrie Thunder a 4-2 loss on Friday evening.
Jayden Smith opened the scoring with a power-play marker early in the first period, while Jared Bainbridge, Jayden Bexte and Brandyn Howg would also find the back of the net for the Copperheads (12-2-2), which held leads of 1-0 after 20 minutes and 2-1 going into the final frame.
Brett LeGrandeur and Tristan Paquette replied for the Thunder (18-1-0), which suffer their first loss of the season.
Ryan Simpson made 32 saves in the loss.
Cochrane Generals (4) – High River Flyers (2)
HIGH RIVER – A three-goal third period paced the Cochrane Generals to a 4-2 win over the High River Flyers on Friday night.
With the game tied 1-1 after 40 minutes, Jordan Fisher, Jordan Marks and Caylin Wildman each found the back of the net for the Generals (9-4-1).
Robert Michetti turned aside 23 shots along the way, while Caden Chudleigh rounded out the scoring with a second period marker.
Mitchell Bosch and Tyler Alger had the goals for the Flyers (6-12-2), while Chantz Vinck stopped 42-of-45 shots fired his way.
Okotoks Bisons (6) – Lomond Lakers (3)
CLARESHOLM – A big second period paced the Okotoks Bisons to a 6-3 win over the Lomond Lakers on Saturday.
Trailing 1-0 after 20 minutes, the Bisons (14-2-2) scored five times in the middle frame as Nicholas Murrell, Jason Horn, Devyn Stewart, Dallas Otto and Nic Jordan each found the back of the net.
Connor Taylor added a third period tally to round out the attack, while Nicholas Ewanchuk registered the win between the pipes, making 16 saves along the way.
Brady Newton finished with 72 saves in the Lomond (5-12-0) crease, while Ryan Leeper, Adam Stafford and Aaron Areshenko provided the offence.
Stettler Lightning (8) – Mountainview Colts (0)
STETTLER – Indiana Kelly kicked-aside all 44 shots he faced to record the shutout as the Stettler Lightning rolled to an 8-0 win over the Mountainview Colts.
Kieran Rost led the way offensively for the Lightning (8-7-0) with two goals, while Quade Cassidy and Erik Rost each finished with a goal and two helpers.
Justin Fournier, Jonathan Fournier, Brenden Tucker and Tye Mulgrove rounded out the scoring, while Ethan Rost chipped in with three assists.
Kelly made nearly half of his 44 saves in the second period alone, finishing the frame with 20 saves in total to record his first career HJHL shutout.
