Airdrie, Coaldale and Okotoks continued their hot starts to the season, while the Thrashers offence came alive, highlighting an exciting four-game Friday night in the HJHL.
Three Hills Thrashers (8) – Lomond Lakers (5)
CLARESHOLM – Kevin Schrock scored twice and setup two others as the Three Hills Thrashers skated to an 8-5 win over the Lomond Lakers.
Nathan Waiboer also found the back of the net twice for the Thrashers (1-8-0), while Riley McKain chipped in with a goal and two assists.
Austin Price, Owen Cummerford and Ty Winther rounded out the scoring, each netting a goal and assist, while Devon Carroll was stellar between the pipes, stopping 40-of-45 shots faced.
Adam Stafford led the way for the Lakers (3-6-0) with a pair of goals, while Clayton Billyard, Gavin Burns and Colt Armstrong each added a single.
Coaldale Copperheads (3) – High River Flyers (1)
HIGH RIVER – Riese Nevil’s third period tally broke the deadlock as the Coaldale Copperheads held on for a 3-1 win over the High River Flyers.
With the game tied 1-1 after 40 minutes, Nevil put the Copperheads (8-1-2) out in front just 3:41 into the final frame, while Mitchell Konschuk added an insurance marker less than four minutes later.
Broc Merkl picked up the win in the Coaldale crease, making 29 saves on the night, while Jared Bainbridge rounded out the scoring.
Chantz Vinck finished with a season-high 57 saves for the Flyers (4-8-2), while Mitchell Bosch tallied their lone goal.
Okotoks Bisons (3) – Red Deer Vipers (0)
OKOTOKS – Devin Reagan stopped all 29 shots he faced as the Okotoks Bisons skated to a 3-0 shutout over the Red Deer Vipers.
All the scoring was done in the second period as Nicholas Murrell found the back of the net twice, while Brandt Black made it a three-goal Bisons (9-2-1) lead with a power-play marker late in the frame.
Reagan made nearly half of his saves in the final 20 minutes but found a way to shut the door for his third shutout of the season.
Justin Anderson turned aside 41 shots in the Red Deer (5-5-0) crease.
Airdrie Thunder (12) – Ponoka Stampeders (4)
AIRDRIE– A massive night off the stick of Brayden Dunn paced the Airdrie Thunder to their 13th consecutive victory as they were 12-4 winners over the Ponoka Stampeders on Friday.
Dunn scored six times and setup three others for a nine-point evening, while Rylan Plante-Crough added a goal and three assists.
Tristan Paquette, Jordan McConnell, Brett LeGrandeur, Caleb Reed and Kirkland Spencer each found the back of the net one for the Thunder (13-0-0), while Ryan Simpson made 24 saves between the pipes.
Braden Klessens and Chevazz Rabbit provided the scoring for the Stampeders (2-4-2), each netting two goals.
