The Flyers handed the Bisons their first loss of the season in an overtime classic, highlighting an exciting Saturday across the HJHL.

Red Deer Vipers (4) – Strathmore Wheatland Kings (2)

STRATHMORE – A three-goal third period propelled the Red Deer Vipers to a 4-2 win over the Strathmore Wheatland Kings on Saturday evening.

Four different players found the back of the net for the Vipers (3-2-0), while goaltender Justin Anderson recorded 21 saves to register the victory, his third is as many starts this season.

Keaton Sawicki, Elijah Johanson, Jacksyn Goodall and Justin Pearup provided the offence for Red Deer, while Kyle Bracko and Cole Busslinger replied for the Wheatland Kings (2-2-1).

Mountainview Colts (3) – Lomond Lakers (1)

CLARESHOLM – Quintin Thorburn scored twice as the Mountainview Colts took a 3-1 win over the Lomond Lakers.

Damian Vickers also found the back of the net for Mountainview (5-2-0), while goaltender Ethan Woodward made 25 saves between the pipes.

Will Kathol scored the lone goal for Lomond (1-2-0).

Theo Paskuski made 56 saves in the Lakers crease.

High River Flyers (2) – Okotoks Bisons (1)

HIGH RIVER – Michael McTighe found the back of the net with 32 seconds remaining in overtime as the High River Flyers handed the Okotoks Bisons their first loss of the season, taking a 2-1 win on home ice.

Jharin Bantugan had the goal in regulation for the Flyers (4-3-1), while goaltender Chantz Vinck stood on his head between the pipes, stopping 48 of the 49 shots the Bisons threw at him.

Austin O’Bray scored the lone goal for Okotoks (7-0-1), which saw their winning streak snapped at seven games.

Devin Reagan made 31 saves in the loss.

Coaldale Copperheads (4) – Medicine Hat Cubs (3)

MEDICINE HAT – Levi Anderson scored twice, including the game-winner 16 seconds into overtime as the Coaldale Copperheads pulled off a 4-3 win over the Medicine Hat Cubs.

Jayden Smith and Brent Mack rounded out the scoring for the Copperheads (4-1-0), which have now won three in a row.

Cooper Hilworth, Tristan Stensrud and Nah Irvine each found the back of the net for the Cubs (1-3-1), which got a 36-save performance from netminder Brett Vanderveer.

Nolan Berner registered win number three on the season for Coaldale, stopping 27-of-30 shots faced.

Cochrane Generals (6) – Stettler Lightning (4)

COCHRANE – A two-goal night from Braden Bain paced the Cochrane Generals to a 6-4 victory over the Stettler Lighting on Saturday.

Brandon Aab, Scott Shugg, Zach Cugnet and Caylin Wildman rounded out the scoring for the Generals (1-2-0), which held leads of 4-0 after 20 minutes and 5-2 going into the final frame.

Quade Cassidy had two goals for the Lightning (1-4-0), while Brenden Tucker and Tristen Nixon had the others.

Knute Loe registered the win between the pipes, kicking aside 28-of-32 shots fired his way, while Dalton Beck made 32 saves in the loss.
