Airdrie and Okotoks remain the HJHL’s only unbeaten teams after a four-game Friday across the HJHL.
Mountainview Colts (6) – Ponoka Stampeders (5)
DIDSBURY – Corbin Houchin scored the overtime winner as the Mountainview Colts won a nail-biting 6-5 contest with the Ponoka Stampeders.
Houchin and Josh Gette each finished with a goal and assist for the Colts (4-2-0), while Zane Leatherdale, Quintin Thorburn, Erran Thompson and Laine Rothenbusch each added a single.
Kacey Straub, Brayden Wells, Pierce Sorensen, Kieran Bulloch and Devin Anderson replied for Ponoka (0-2-1).
Okotoks Bisons (3) – Blackfalds Wranglers (0)
BLACKFALDS – Devin Reagan stopped all 18 shots he faced as the Okotoks Bisons extended their unbeaten streak to seven games with a 3-0 win over the Blackfalds Wranglers.
Kyle Dunville and Kyle Harrison found the back of the net in the opening frame, while Kody Briggs extended the lead to 3-0 in the middle stanza and that would be all the offence the Bisons (7-0-0) would need on the night.
Kaleb Birgo was solid between the pipes for the Wranglers (0-2-1), stopping 47-of-50 shots faced.
High River Flyers (6) – Stettler Lightning (4)
HIGH RIVER – A three-goal night from Mitchell Bosch propelled the High River Flyers to a 6-4 win over the Stettler Lightning.
Tyler Agler, Joshua Fleck and Chase Groeneveld rounded out the scoring for the Flyers (3-3-1), which got 31 saves from netminder Connor McCarroll.
Jonathan Fournier tallied two of Stettler’s (1-3-0) four goals, with Brendan Tucker adding a goal and two helpers and Euan Hanton added as single.
Davin Nattestad made 36 saves in the losing effort.
Airdrie Thunder (12) – Cochrane Generals (4)
AIRDRIE – A monster six-point night off the stick of Jordan McConnell paced the Airdrie Thunder to yet another lopsided victory, this time 12-4 over the Cochrane Generals.
McConnell had two goals and four assists, while Cooper Page and Rylan Plante-Crough each sored twice as the Thunder (6-0-0) have now won six straight to open the season, while averaging nearly nine goals per-game.
Ryan Simpson had 34 saves to record the victory between the pipes, while Jason Wenzel, Dane Bennett-Nimijean, Zachary Dubois, Tristan Paquette, Jackson Gibsn and Michal Wojciechowski each added a single.
Braden Bain had two of the goals for Cochrane (0-2-0), while Benjamin Davison and River Ross had the others.
