Strathmore Wheatland Kings (6) – Red Deer Vipers (4)
RED DEER – Kody Hammond scored twice as the Strathmore Wheatland Kings defeated the Red Deer Vipers by a sore of 6-4.
Hayden Vander Ploeg, Brady Skiffington, Lucas Muenchrath and Thomas Gmitter each added a single for Strathmore (2-1-1), which held a 2-1 lead after 20 minutes before finding themselves deadlocked at three going into the final frame.
Tyrees Goodrunning had two of the goals for the Vipers (1-2-0), Cody Jackson and Austin Thorne potted the others.
Brett Willan made 15 saves to pick up the win between the Strathmore pipes.
Mountainview Colts (4) – Cochrane Generals (1)
COCHRANE – Alan Klinck scored twice as the Mountainview Colts were 4-1 winners over the Cochrane Generals.
Josh Gette and Sam Vanderstoop each added second period tallies for the Colts (3-1-0), giving them a 3-1 lead going into the final frame.
Ethan Woodward made 23 saves to record the win between the pipes.
Braden Bain had the lone goal of the game for the Generals (0-1-0), which got 20 saves from netminder Knute Loe.
Coaldale Copperheads (4) – Medicine Hat Cubs (0)
MEDICINE HAT – Nolan Berner stopped all 25 shots he faced to record his third career HJHL shutout as the Coaldale Copperheads skated off with a 4-0 road victory over the Medicine Hat Cubs.
Christian Dees led the charge offensively, scoring once and adding an assist for the Copperheads (2-1-0), which held a 3-0 lead midway through the opening frame.
Jason Creighton and Tyler Anderson had the other goals.
Brett Vanderveer made 35 saves in the losing effort for the Cubs (1-2-0).
Airdrie Thunder (7) – High River Flyers (1)
AIRDRIE – A three-goal, one-assist effort off the stick of Rylan Plante-Crough propelled the Airdrie Thunder to their fourth consecutive victory as they were 7-1 winners over the High River Flyers on Saturday.
Jordan McConnell added two goals and one assist to the Airdrie (4-0-0) scoreboard, while Dane Bennett-Nimijean and Tristan Paquette each chipped in with a goal and assist.
Ryan Simpson registered his second win of the season between the pipes for the Thunder, stopping 27-of-29 shots faced.
The Flyers (2-3-1) got a 51-save performance out of netminder Chantz Vinck, while Michael McTighe scored their lone goal of the game.
