The Bisons extended their winning streak to four games as the first big Saturday of the season has come and gone.

Okotoks Bisons (3) – Strathmore Wheatland Kings (2)

STRATHMORE – Kyle Harrison and Jason Horn each scored in the shootout as the Okotoks Bisons got past the Strathmore Wheatland Kings by a score of 3-2.

Devin Reagan made 32 saves in regulation and overtime, and then stopped all three shooters he faced in the shutout to register the win between the pipes.

Trialing 2-0 after 40 minutes, Mitch Wolfe and Connor Taylor each added a power-play marker to pull the Bisons (4-0-0) even.

Garrett Vander Ploeg and Eric Sandum had the goals for the Wheatland Kings (0-1-1), which got a 32-save performance from netminder Riley Stovka.

Mountainview Colts (5) – High River Flyers (2)

DIDSBURY – Five different players found the back of the net for the Mountainview Colts as they skated to a 5-2 victory over the High River Flyers.

Trevor Simpson finished with a three-point game, scoring once and setting up two others, while Laine Rothenbusch, Brandon Rude, Erran Thompson and Sam Kolke rounded out the scoring.

Liam Thiessen and Joshua Fleck replied for High River (2-2-0), which trailed 3-0 after one period and 5-1 after 40 minutes.

Ethan Woodward stopped 20-of-22 shots between the pipes for the Colts (1-1-0).

Medicine Hat Cubs (5) – Ponoka Stampeders (1)

PONOKA – Brett Vanderveer made 29 saves as the Medicine Hat Cubs skated to a 5-1 win over the Ponoka Stampeders.

Chandler Aleman led the way for Medicine Hat (1-0-0) with a goal and two assists, while Tavin Stadnicki, Noah Irvine, Alex Duclos and Justin Strathdee added singles.

Taite Opdendries had the lone goal for Ponoka (0-2-0), which got 40 saves from Brandon Clark.

Red Deer Vipers (8) – Three Hills Thrashers (1)

RED DEER – Justin Paarup scored twice to lead the Red Deer Vipers to a convincing 8-1 home-ice win over the Three Hills Thrashers on Saturday evening.

Keaton Sawicki led all skaters with four points as he put one in the back of the net and setup three others, while Jacksyn Goodall and Tyrees Goodrunning each finished with a goal and two helpers.

Justin Anderson picked up the win between the pipes for Red Deer (1-1-0), stopping 14-of-15 shots fired his way, while Keagan Kingwell, Jordan Volk and Logan Neal rounded out the scoring.

Ty Winther had the lone goal for the Thrashers (0-3-0).

Airdrie Thunder (10) – Coaldale Copperheads (3)

COALDALE – Jordan McConnell and Rylan Plante-Crough combined for 12 points as the Airdrie Thunder rolled to a 10-3 win over the Coaldale Copperheads.

McConnell and Plante-Crouch each netted a hat trick and added three assists, while Brett Legrandeur, Kirkland Spencer, Tyler McCarry and Jason Wenzel rounded out the scoring attack.

Jayden Smith provided two of the goals for the Copperheads (1-1-0), while Jared Bainbridge added a single.

Ryan Simpson grabbed the win between the pipes for Airdrie (2-0-0), stopping 22-of-25 shots fired his way.
