The Okotoks Bisons are the first team to two wins this season, while the Coaldale Copperheads kicked-off their season on home ice.

Okotoks Bisons (10) – Ponoka Stampeders (0)

PONOKA – Austin O’Bray scored three times as the Okotoks Bisons cruised to a 10-0 victory over the Ponoka Stampeders on Sunday afternoon.

Devin Reagan stopped all 22 shots he faced to register the shutout, the third of his HJHL career, while Nicholas Murrell chipped in with two goals and a helper for the Bisons (2-0-0).

Nic Jordan led all skaters with four points, all of which assists, while Jagger Thiessen had a goal and two assists.

Coaldale Copperheads (8) – High River Flyers (2)

COALDALE – Brandyn Howg and Jayden Smith each scored twice and setup another as the Coaldale Copperheads skated to an 8-2 victory over the High River Flyers to begin their HJHL season on Sunday evening.

Jayden Bexte, Levi Anderson, Ty Abbott and Riese Nevil each added a single for the Copperheads (1-0-0), which led 4-1 after 20 minutes and 5-2 going into the final frame.

Nolan Berner earned the win between the pipes for Coaldale, stopping 19-of-21 shots fired his way.

Chase Groeneveld and Joshua Fleck replied for High River (1-1-0), which got 44 saves from netminder Connor McCarroll.
