The 2018-19 Heritage Junior Hockey League season got underway on Friday night in High River.
High River Flyers (4) – Three Hills Thrashers (1)
HIGH RIVER – Jakob Jefferies factored in on all four goals, scoring twice and setting up two more, as the High River Flyers opened the season with a 4-1 win on home ice over the Three Hills Thrashers.
Michael McTighe chipped in with a goal and assist for the Flyers (1-0-0), while Joshua Fleck rounded out the scoring.
Chantz Vinck stopped 22-of-23 shots fired his way in the High River crease.
Nathan Waiboer scored the lone goal of the game for Three Hills (0-1-0), which got 43 saves out of goaltender Alex Jones, before Conner Dixon came on in relief, stopping 19-of-20 shots faced.
