Vipers one win away from second straight North Division crown

Logan Linnell’s second consecutive hat trick paced the Red Deer Vipers to a 7-1 win over the Airdrie Thunder in Game 5 of their best-of-seven North Division final series on Wednesday night.

Mack Differenz also continued his red-hot post-season with two goals and two assists on the evening as the Vipers now hold a 3-2 series lead and are just one win away from advancing to the HJHL Final for the second straight season.

Cole Sears was busy between the pipes, stopping 42-of-43 shots to record the win, his second of the playoffs.

Aidan Wilson and Lane Sim rounded out the Red Deer attack, while Andrew McLennan scored the lone goal of the game for the Thunder

Home teams have won all five games in the series, which shifts to Airdrie for Game 6 on Friday night. Puck drop is at 8:00pm.
